Young Justice

I've mentioned Young Justice  so many times in blog entries but I haven't really spoken about it properly yet and feel it's about time I did.

Young Justice was a cartoon on Cartoon Network, it was about the sidekicks and teen heroes from the DC universe and was a part of the DC nation block on a Saturday morning.

The producers Greg wiseman and Brandon Vietti changed the line up from the comics to feature characters like Dick Grayson and Wally West for example (Wally and Dick were a part of the Teen Titans not young justice but they were chosen over later sidekicks as people were more familiar with those characters) and a brand new Aqualad called Kaldur was created (possibly to create more racial  diversity, the original aqualad Garth made an appearance and later became tempest.) along with that many of the ages were changed and Artemis's family tree was changed from that of the comics to include Asian heritage and having Cheshire as her sister (Artemis was a kind of obscure female villain/anti hero in the comic books.)

The series was really well written and dark at places, the characters were really well developed and I loved Kidflash/Wally West and Aretmis in season 1 and I loved Impulse/Bart Allen and Bluebeetle/Jamie Reyes in Season 2, I loved the way that drama and action fitted together, the relationships really pushed the series and not just the romantic ones, Miss martian and beast boys brother/sister relationship was really sweet and the Robin/ Kidflash bromance was cool to see.

Unfortunately as I've said a billion times on this blog Young justice (along with Green Lantern Animated Sereis ) was cancelled, the ending was spectacular and I wept when a certain someone died and didn't recover for a good ten minutes after the episode ended.

The ending was more like a cliff hanger than I had hoped because there isn't much worse than an unresolved cliff hanger but the ending did the series justice and maybe they will be able to continue the story some day, the crew seem to want to any way.

Sadly I think maybe the series was too dark and mature for kids to appreciate which might have been why merchandise didn't sell as well and that could have been why it had been cancelled.

Now voice actors, possibly the most high profile voice actor on the show was Jesse McCartney who voiced Robin/Nightwing/Dick Grayson but my favorite was Jason Spisak the voice of Kidflash, unfortunately for him  he was also the voice of the villain Razor in Green Lantern Animated Series which also got cancelled.

I like this voice actor the most for the videos he makes on youtube where he puts on Kidflash and razor's voice to read Dr. Suess and Shakespeare and weird stuff like that which is pretty cool, it's nice for the fans too.

On a side note I found Kaldur in Teen Titans Go the other week, apparently he is a DJ now...
