Recently Fall Out Boy have come out of hiatus and released an album having worked on the album in secret which is pretty much the best ways to come back from a break as the second you announced you're back together you already have a whole album, there is less pressure and it's much nicer for your fans not having to wait, plus it would be pretty awkward if you announce that you are getting back together and you all fall out putting the album together so I have so much respect for Fall Out Boy for doing this in secret.
What happened to Fall Out Boy during the hiatus is rather sad, the band took a break because they simply didn't enjoy it anymore, people weren't liking the new tracks and they couldn't so it any more.
They all ventured on solo careers which sadly ultimately failed, the lead singer Patrick Stump wrote, produced and performed a solo album, married his girlfriend and lost a lot of weight, his solo career flopped and in a blog entry he revealed how "fans" would throw abuse at him on his solo tour with comments like "We liked you better fat" which is horrible considering the work that he put into his solo career and weight loss.
Bassist Pete Wentz began abusing prescription drugs and split from wife Ashlee Simpson, wrote a novel and hosted a reality competition about tattoos.
Drummer Andy Hurley and guitarist Joe Trohman formed a heavy metal outfit " the dammed things" with Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano of "anthrax" and Keith Buckley of "Every time I die".
The album came about when Stump wrote Wentz a letter about how he felt like he was in a dark place and wanted an outlet for creativity and the two began writing together.
The whole back story really depresses me, I just feel horrible that they got to a point of feeling like that and I'm quite angry that people treated them like that to begin with, it's sad to think that happened and people (like me) had no idea that happend a just brought the new album as if nothing happened.
The nice part is that "Save rock and roll" has achieved so much popularity without everyone hearing the sad back story and pitying the band, Instead they just made a great album and reinvented them selves.
